Albireo, below at the Albuquerque Museum of Art for ISEA2012, is born of an interest in interactivity between autonomous creatures, and representing the joy of life in a direct, experiential way. Powered by the sun, these sleep by night and dance and sing through the day.

Microprocessors, motors and wireless communication enable my pieces to animate themselves in improvisational ways, without external control. Current interest is in the development of group or "flocking" behaviors in larger numbers of critters.
